Mongolian Ger Retrofit Kit

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia has the worst air quality of any capital city in the world. Teams at BYU have been working on insulation kits to help reduce the reliance on coal burning stoves. I came into the project during its second year to teach and mentor a team of students working on a modular, insulated, low-cost flooring system.

The team worked through a variety of potential solutions and arrived at a sandwich panel design with a high R-value that could be easily put together like a puzzle.

Unfortunately right before our trip to perform field testing in Mongolia, COVID-19 hit and out trip had to be cancelled.
